Casal de Arman Treixadura, accompanied a Galician traditional menu served by the famous San Clemente restaurant, on Saturday in honor of Benedict XVI, who met at lunchtime in the Archbishopric of Santiago with his entourage.

Casal de Arman is developed by the family González Vázquez, viticultors from Ribeiro for generations. The wine comes from the typical varieties of this pioneering vineyard area of Galicia, which is a few years back, thanks to some families, the highest levels of quality.

These wines became famous worldwide in the fifteenth century and sixteenth centuries, when Ribeiro tanks were exported to England, Holland, Portugal and Italy.
No doubt other popes before Benedict XVI in Rome enjoyed the preferred wine of Alfonso X the Wise. The Wine Praised by Cervantes in his “Novelas Ejemplares”, or Tirso de Molina. Father Sarmiento said that "enforced as large class at the tables of kings, princes and lords of all the territories."
This time was enjoyed by some 50 people among whom were the cardinals who attended his homily at the Obradoiro Square. The menu was not disclosed until now for security reasons.
The Archdiocese of Santiago was very well advised of what are the new Spanish wine market trends, which certainly approaches the degree of knowledge to appreciate the extraordinary achieve characteristics of indigenous grapes like Treixadura, which undoubtedly is becoming the next global trend after the successes already achieved by godellos and albariños that also grown in the Avia River Valley in Ourense.
Casal de Arman performs well as a favorite wine and many Galician and begins to conquer markets like Britain, Holland, Belgium and the U.S.. His careful preparation, the result of the efforts of an entire family complete with restaurant and Rural Hotel  in San Andres, and the prizes are hoarding, such as Decanter Gold Medal, Best White Wine from Spain Wine Living, 92 Guide Proensa points or 91 points just made in the Peñin Guide makes it a valued wine.

 

Coto de Gomariz participated in the great exhibition that Guia Peñin organizes everyear in Madrid.

Coto de Gomariz 2009 reaches 94 points, being one of the Best Whites in Spain.

On 16th of June we were honored to present our wines in Polland into an event that took place on Mamaison Hotel Le Regina in the historic city center in Warsaw.

Many people from wine bussines assisted to the tasting. Importers, Wine shops owners, Sommeliers, press people and restaurant owners had the chance to learn about Ribeiro DO and then They enjoyed a wonderful meal served by the Le REgina REstaurant where the Sommelier Andrzej Strzelczyk showed us his great professionalism.

The day after, 17th of June, we assited to the Spanish Wines in Polland in the emblematic building Reduta of Polish Bank, destroyed in The II World War.

We are very proud of our Wines. We are starting to see the results of the well done work during this time.

Ribeiros do Avia is going to Valladolid to present the wines in a stand that We share with other cellars from CRDO Ribeiro.
